Meet Dr. Lucas
Board Certified Internist
Dr. Mei-Lai Lucas is a Board Certified, Internal Medicine physician who completed her medical degree at the University of Oklahoma and her Internal Medicine residency at Brown University. The younger twin daughter of immigrant parents, Mei-Lai was born and raised in Oklahoma City. She grew up working in the family's Chinese restaurant starting at the age of nine. She completed her pre-med studies at Pepperdine University followed by her M.D. degree at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. Not only did she go to medical school with her identical twin sister, Mei-Ling Fong, MD, they also completed their Internal Medicine residencies together at Brown University in Rhode Island.
Dr. Lucas moved to San Francisco in 1999 when she was offered a private practice opportunity in the Richmond district of San Francisco. In 2004, Dr. Lucas took ownership of this medical practice and renamed it Richmond District Medical Group. She successfully ran this group practice that proudly cared for many, dear Bay Area patients for several decades. As it became increasingly difficult to run a private practice, Dr. Lucas decided to transition to concierge medicine. She started her concierge practice on January 1, 2020.
Mei-Lai is committed to providing the highest standards of care for her patients. With over two decades of experience in providing health care to thousands of patients, she is familiar with how to network with the top specialists, hospitals and support services in the Bay Area. She has extensive expertise in managing chronic health conditions and with providing preventive care for women and men, young and old.
Dr. Lucas is a highly regarded internist in the Bay Area. She has been repeatedly selected as a Bay Area "Top Doctor" since 2011 and an "Exceptional Woman in Medicine" since 2017.
During her free time she enjoys exercising, cooking, reading, traveling and spending time with her husband Adam and her two teens, Lauren and Lance.
